An investigation by Alliance of  Birth Mothers Campaigning for Justice (ABC) has concluded that some therapists posing as experts in the Family Court are using vetting from their accreditation body to cover themselves when doing separate work with children commissioned by Judges. A report earlier this month by Ciara Phelan in the Irish Examiner said the Government is to explore paying social welfare to Ukrainians as a way of encouraging them to return home when the temporary protection directive ends in March 2024. A paper by the Department of Justice put forward at the Cabinet committee on Ukraine includes an option on how to “incentivise voluntary returns” including the continued provision of supports for a time-bound period to provide security to those returning. A significant report by the National Women’s Council (NWC), highlighting the urgent need for reforms across the justice system for survivors reporting domestic and sexual abuse was published on Wednesday 3 May 2023. A total of nine senators and TDs, eleven councillors, several organisations including Futureproof Clare, Love Leitrim and many academics including Dr. John Barry, Queen’s University, Belfast and Dr Rory Hearne, NUI Maynooth have signed an open letter to Minister for Energy, Eamon Ryan calling on him to uphold the agreed government policy against the importation of fracked gas to Ireland.
