The Minister for Health, Stephen Donnelly TD, has published the 2020 Annual Report of the CervicalCheck Tribunal established in October 2020 as an alternative means for women affected by the CervicalCheck scandal and their families to seek redress outside of court.
The 221+ support group, representing many of those affected by the receipt of incorrect smear test results spoke out against the terms of reference of the Tribunal and the vast majority of women affected (310) have chosen to boycott the Tribunal and go to court instead.
The tribunal chaired by Ms. Justice Ann Power became operational 1 December 2020 and has received eight claims up to October 2021.
The Tribunalโs premises are located on the 3rd floor of the Infinity Building, Smithfield, Dublin and cost โฌ303,144 per annum to rent plus โฌ112,315 per annum service charge.
The cost of kitting out the offices was ๏ฟผ โฌ1,627,645.00.
The cost of staffing the Tribunal in 2020, including both set up and operational costs post establishment, was โฌ277,176 up to March 2021.
