Paul Beirne, Roscommon Patrick Sweeney, Donegal and Martin O’Toole Mayo were jailed on 2 June following a 19 week trial by jury in the Dublin Circuit Criminal Court on charges relating to the removal of security guards, some ex British soldiers, Sunday 16 December 2018 acting for an agent for KBC bank who evicted the McGann family from their home the previous Tuesday morning.
Video footage of the eviction went viral around the world and was discussed in the Dáil.
Several TDs expressed horror at the brutal force used to evict the family as Gardai watched on. The security company was later convicted of operating without a license in the Republic.
A video posted yesterday evening by the Irish Inquiry makes very worrying claims about the validity of the court documents used to evict David, Geraldine and Anthony McGann from their home.
